Daily Roundup: Sept 28, 2020

September 28, 2020

Hi everyone, here is Rick's Roundup for September 28th

  • Good news on the vaccine front! The federal government has struck a deal for the AstraZeneca vaccine, which is widely considered to be the front runner. This is positive for all Canadians.
  • Amazon has announced that they will be hiring another 3,500 people in Canada for their Canadian operations. This is fantastic news given our economic troubles. Our hope is that Edmonton could become a future tech hub as Amazon continues to expand. With the great talent pool coming out of U of A, Edmonton Strathcona as a tech hub is a no brainer!
  • On the negative side, our federal deficit is expected to hit $147.6 billion. While it is important to support Canadians who have been impacted by Covid19, we can't ignore our fiscal status. Now would be the time for the federal government to fully review its spending, much like PM Chretien did in 1995.

Before asking you for money for our Edmonton Strathcona campaign, we’re in the final stages of paying off expenses from my 2020 Conservative leadership campaign, which was cut short in early March by the COVID-19 pandemic. Would you help us with that? Tax receipts are issued – Click here to be taken to my donation page.
